Barbara Gugliotta (Italian, born 1978) is a fine-art and commercial photographer with a scientific background.
Her work explores the silent dialogue between nature, spirit, and the invisible presence of a place. Since her first journey to Iceland in 2012, she developed a deep connection with remote and elemental landscapes. Her journeys have taken her through remote nordic regions, from the Scottish Highlands to Arctic territories.
She approaches these landscapes as places of infinity, where silence, solitude, and the force of nature open a passage towards an inner and spiritual dimension. Her visual identity is shaped by her connection to nature and by the religious sacred world. Her images move between the recognisable and the ambiguous, matter and spirit, darkness and light, presence and disappearance.
Through a minimalist and contemplative visual language, her work reflects on solitude, vulnerability, transformation, and the fragility of both our ecosystem and ourselves as human beings. She approaches commissioned work and brand collaborations with the same curiosity and sensitive visual language.
